Painting the city as it remembers itself.
New Orleans / place / memory / color / light
Hayley Roussel
Contemporary Artist | New Orleans, Louisiana
Hayley Roussel is a New Orleans-based painter whose work explores the layered relationship between place, memory, and environment. Working in bold color and abstraction, she translates the city’s streets, wetlands, architecture, and wildlife into immersive visual narratives.
Rooted in Louisiana landscapes, her practice reflects the tension and harmony between natural systems and human-made structures—where history, movement, and light continuously overlap.
She holds a BFA in Painting and Drawing from Louisiana State University (2017). Her work has been featured in public art projects and community-based initiatives including murals on Royal Street with the Downtown Development District, a Sing for Hope piano installation, and collaborations with the Paul Maillard Business and Arts Initiative. She has also participated in live painting events such as Raising Cane’s Fried Chicken Fest and Art Battle International.
Her work is held and exhibited throughout Louisiana in spaces including Revival Art House (Ponchatoula), Tru Juice Cafe (Hammond), Restaurant des Familles (Crown Point), and select New Orleans venues.
